Saturday successful sculpture workshop
CORAKI ART PRIZE
Proudly sponsored by
A small, select, skillful and high -spirited group of teenagers attended the Found Object Sculpture Workshop which was run by Coraki Art Prize and funded by Richmond Valley Council on Saturday 26th May.
These teenagers are a joy to work with and SO talented.
The workshop was run by Wendy Powitt who is an emerging Sculptor in the Northern Rivers and before her interest in Sculpture, she was an established fashion broker and at the present time is running a successful jewelry design business, finishing a Fine Arts degree with Sculpture as her major, running workshops and exhibiting sculptures across NSW. This week she is exhibiting work at the Gollan pub in Keen Street as part of Lismore City Council and SCU pop-up art project.
The students were as enthusiastic as Wendy to be using recycled materials to make their sculptures. They set to work immediately and didn’t stop for 4 hours. They produced some zany, cool, beautiful work and one quite “edgy” sculpture all of which will be on display at The Coraki Art Prize in October.
Some of the group are meeting Tuesday week to make an animation film clip to highlight their work on our website and Facebook page.
A great success!
